TENTATIVE PROGRAM:

      Step A) Talks session

This session is reserved for talks to be given on topics likely to be retained as part of a R&D program for the VLVnT. Here is a tentative list of subjects that could be addressed:

  • Front-End electronics
  • Acquisition
  • Trigger
  • Synchronisation, clock distribution
  • Slow Control electronics
  • Acoustic detection
  • Positionning
  • Reliability , QA/QC

This list is not meant to be complete. One is highly welcomed to propose changes and additions to it. I will update it on a regular basis until the start of the workshop, according to our discussions.

I would like to encourage those who feel like giving a talk to contact me a soon as possible, so that I can setup and publish an agenda. Please indicate the title of your talk and the time you need to give it. Abstracts of the talks are also welcome asap.

Step B) Brain storming session and discussion on organisation issues

This step is meant to make a synthesis of the series of talks and discussions in step A) in order to select the R&D projects that we wish to retain. For this step we need a good knowledge of the organisational aspects of each proposal:

  • Final goals and schedule
  • Manpower and money required
  • Organisation scheme of the project within an institute or in a collaboration of several institutes. This is why it seems important that these aspects be addressed within the talk session as much as the technical aspects.
I understand that none of these discussions are simple or straightforward. Several iterations will be necessary in many cases before we reach a conclusion. This is why I will try to make myself available as much as I can before the worshop in order to help the preparation process if possible.

Note also that I will be at CERN during the forthcorming ANTARES meeting (week 39).
