The working groups 'Architecture', 'Sea Operarions', 'Electrical Power Systems' and 'Mechanics' had during the workshop combined parallel sessions. You can find the presentations of the combined sessions at A1.2 and A2.2.

TENTATIVE PROGRAM:

      A tentative list of topics that may be addressed in the working group on Architecture:

  • Connectors
    • Wet mateable electro-optic connectors: what is available/what will shortly be available/rival suppliers?
    • Dry mateable E/O connectors: experience with connections
    • String geometry and deployment experiences from the 3 collaborations
      • Frame Interrupted Cable (ANTARES)
      • Unfurling Boom (NEMO)
      • Unfolding Star (NESTOR)
  • Junction Box
    • Deployment issues
      • deployed with main cable to shore(?) implying small JB (maybe only a panel with E/O connectors: NEMO?)
      • deployed later (required dredging as in ANTARES)
    • Multiple or single JB?
    • Multiple or single cables to shore
    • Central JB and satellite JBs (eg NEMO idea): star connections from satellines to central JB; star + ring LAN connectrion between satellite JBs for data path redundancy; failure analyses: in particular can critical f/o power conductors be routed through wet mateable connectors when these could result in the loss of communication/power to the entire detector?
